At St Pancras Renaissance Hotel, we hold a wide variety of events for guests and visitors to enjoy as part of 
Evenings at Ren.

The Renaissance Hotels global events programme sees all 170 hotels around the world host weekly events which offer authentic and intriguing experiences that celebrate the neighbourhood. 

Here at St Pancras Renaissance Hotel, we host live music in the Booking Office on Thursday and Friday evenings and also hold weekly masterclasses in MI + ME that showcase the skills, talent and knowledge of local King's Cross organisations.

Masterclasses, held on Tuesdays from 6pm to 8pm, are complimentary but attendees must print tickets from Eventbrite to secure their space.

Personalise Your Own Eye Mask (Dec 2016)

Throughout December, the hotel will be holding ‘Personalise Your Own Eye Mask’ masterclasses in partnership with Longstaff Longstaff, the premium British silk loungewear brand.

Longstaff Longstaff is known for applying original, hand-designed prints to high quality silk to create a feminine, refined aesthetic. The brand puts passionate focus into features that ensure their loungewear is truly unique. These include using French seams and mitred corners, hand selecting Mother-of-Pearl buttons and applying long, sharp collars designed exclusively by bespoke shirt-maker Sean O’Flynn. Sourced and manufactured in Britain, the beautiful collection (which includes silk robes, tunics, pyjamas and camisoles) is available in four different stories, each with a natural, elegant narrative.

Longstaff Longstaff is headed up by Creative Director, Sophie Barnard. The company is named after the British side of Sophie’s family. Her paternal grandmother was one of seven sisters who each had the middle name, as well as the surname, Longstaff. She also belonged to the architectural powerhouse family headed by Sir George Gilbert Scott, the hotel’s architect.

Running on 3 Tuesdays in December, masterclasses (led by Sophie) will offer attendees the chance to learn and develop some fundamental sewing skills. After a guided embellishment demonstration (including how to add beads, trimmings and sequins) attendees will be given their own silk eye mask, to personalise and embellish as they wish.

Iced Champagne Cocktail Masterclass (Nov 2016)

Throughout November, the hotel will be holding Iced Champagne Cocktail Masterclasses in partnership with their champagne partner, Veuve Clicquot.

Masterclass attendees will learn about the history behind the iconic brand before being introduced to Veuve Clicquot’s new range of champagne. Veuve Clicquot Rich champagne is versatile champagne, designed to let everyone create their own playful drinking experience. Created expressly to be combined with a selection of ingredients that bring out the mixologist in anyone, attendees will be given a demonstration from Booking Office bar an before being invited to experiment according to their own personal tastes. Customizing by adding ice cubes and selected ingredients, attendees will create a range of unique cocktails to serve to friends and family throughout the festive party season.

Rumour has it, that Champagne’s most emblematic Woman, Madame Clicquot, will return this Halloween to settle her affairs once and for all. Visiting from beyond the grave she invites you to toast the 150th anniversary of her death in the gothic surroundings of the Booking Office Bar & Restaurant.

Come and raise a glass and have a dance if you dare; there will be live jazz and a DJ til late.

Make your own Terrarium Masterclass (Oct 2016)

Throughout October, St Pancras Renaissance Hotel will be holding ‘Make Your Own Terrarium’ masterclasses in partnership with Lavender Green Flowers.

The masterclass series is designed to help guests and visitors learn a new skill or find a hidden talent. Working with local businesses and cultural organisations, the sessions are held in the hotel’s new eatery, MI + ME, which is located on the Upper Concourse of St Pancras International Station.

Running every Tuesday in October, classes will be led by Lavender Green Flowers. With over 25 years’ experience decorating the most wonderful weddings, private parties and homes, and corporate events, Lavender Green Flowers has an enviable reputation as being one of the very best florists in London. The depth of knowledge, passion and expertise that the team at Lavender Green Flowers hold is unsurpassed, and this will all be available to you at your (green) fingertips!

The masterclass will offer the chance to learn about the art of terrarium planting, a fortunate accident invented in London almost 200 years ago by Nathaniel Ward. You will learn how to pot a terrarium filled with ferns, moss, stones and pebbles, and succulents and create your very own to take home. The expert florist leading the class will offer after care instructions as well as being available to answer any question that you may have about the world of flora and frondescence.

Introduction to English Wine by Chapel Down Masterclass (Sept 2016)

Throughout September, St Pancras Renaissance Hotel will be holding ‘An Introduction to English Wine by Chapel Down’ masterclasses in partnership with England’s leading winemaker.

Running every Tuesday in MI + ME, classes will be led by Chapel Down, England’s leading wine producer and wine partner to the hotel. Based in Tenterden in Kent, Chapel Down produces a world-class range of sparkling and still wines, together with an award-winning range of Curious beer and cider. Chapel Down has recently become an official wine supplier to 10 Downing Street and is the first English winery to be featured in the London Stock Exchange’s 1000 Companies to Inspire Britain.

The masterclass will offer the chance to learn about the history of English wine, the intricate ‘Traditional Method’ of sparkling wine production and the virtues of Chapel Down. Guests will then learn how to professionally taste wine before enjoying a tutored tasting of three of their sparkling wines (Chapel Down Vintage Reserve Brut, Chapel Down Rose Brut and the multi Gold medal winning Chapel Down Three Graces) and 3 three still wines (Chapel Down Bacchus, Chapel Down Kit’s Coty Chardonnay and Chapel Down Union Red). The masterclass will conclude with a Q&A with the Chapel Down team and the chance to sample their popular Curious Brew lager, refermented with Champagne yeast.

'Quinntessential crEATes' Masterclass (August 2016)

Throughout August, the hotel will be holding culinary 'Quinntessential crEATes' masterclasses in partnership with Great British Bake Off winner, Frances Quinn.

A British baker and designer renowned for her creativity, Frances’ background in design results in her producing inspiring and unforgettable creations. The vital ingredient in all Frances’ bakes and concepts is her imagination and it is the ideas and inspiration behind some of them that will be captured in her masterclass. From doodling in caramel to painting in chocolate, Frances will show attendees how to make unique desserts and drinks with her own ‘Quinntessential’ design twist!

Guests will also have the opportunity to purchase their very own copy of Frances first book, ‘Quinntessential Baking’ priced at £25 which Frances will be happy to sign.

Urban Sketching Masterclass (July 2016)

Throughout July, the hotel held Urban Sketching masterclasses in partnership with House of Illustration.

Running on 3 Tuesdays in July, the urban sketching classes were be led by a professional illustrator from House of Illustration. Located in King’s Cross, House of Illustration is the UK’s only public gallery dedicated solely to celebrating all forms of illustration, with a creative programme of regularly changing exhibitions, talks and events.

During the two hour session participants were introduced to the core skills of urban sketching working closely from observation of the architectural surroundings. The weekly sessions focused on setting the framework for a great architectural sketch and helped establish the key elements of perspective and composition; how to use different tools and techniques to add a sense of space, light and shadow; and how to draw people moving through space, practising contour line drawing, gesture studies and simple tricks to capture the figure in flux.


#‎SpiceGirlWannabe‬ Group Photo (30th June)

In the lead up to the 20th anniversary of the Spice Girls ‘Wannabe’ single release, the hotel welcomed Spice Girl ‘wannabes’ to the hotel for a group photograph.

On Thursday 30th June, ticket holders were allowed access the iconic Grand Staircase (where the music video for the song was shot 20 years ago) for a group photo with a Getty Images photographer. The picture was then distributed to press and shared across the hotel’s social media channels.

After the photograph, the group of wannabes were invited to the hotel’s Pop-Up Gin & Tonic Bar in Hansom Lounge where they sipped on a range of Spice Girl G&Ts.

 

Global Day of Discovery Smartphone Street Photography Masterclass (16th June)

Renaissance Hotels is known around the world for helping the next generation of business travellers to discover unexpected cultural experiences. On Thursday 16th June, St Pancras Renaissance Hotel inspired guests and the local community to make time to discover unforgettable evenings with an exclusive event in partnership with creative photography experts, Foto Ruta.  

During a 3 hour Smartphone Street Photography masterclass held in The Royal Suite, participants were introduced to the basics of street photography and given tips on how to use their smartphones to capture the best shots. Attendees were then be given a set of clues and a map before heading off into the local King’s Cross neighbourhood to take photos they thought best captured them. Returning to the suite, for drinks and nibbles, the class ended with a presentation of everyone’s pictures, with a (friendly!) critique from Foto Ruta.

Specialising in creative photography experiences, tours and workshops, Foto Ruta’s range of unique and interactive photography experiences are designed to engage people in their surroundings in a sociable and creative way and help people see cities in a different light.

Smartphone Street Photography Masterclass (June 2016)

Throughout June, the hotel held Smartphone Street Photography masterclasses in partnership with Foto Ruta.

Running once a week, the Smartphone Street Photography classes were led by photography experts Foto Ruta. Specialising in creative photography experiences, tours and workshops, Foto Ruta’s range of unique and interactive photography experiences are designed to engage people in their surroundings in a sociable and creative way and help people see cities in a different light.

During the 2 hour sessions, participants were introduced to the basics of street photography and given tips on how to use their smartphones to capture the best shots. Attendees were then given a set of clues and a map before heading off into the local King’s Cross neighbourhood to take photos they thought best captured them. Returning to MI + ME for a glass of wine, the class ended with a screen presentation of everyone’s pictures, and a (friendly!) critique from Foto Ruta.

Meet The Maker Gin Masterclass (May 2016)

Throughout May, the hotel held Meet the Maker Gin Masterclasses in partnership with Fever-Tree Premium Natural Mixers’ and a selection of North London gin distilleries.

Running once a week, the Meet the Maker Gin classes were led by an expert from award winning tonic brand Fever-Tree as well as a representative from a London gin distiller. Distillers included: Half-Hitch (based in Camden), 58 Gin (based in Islington) and Sacred Spirits (based in Highgate).

On arrival, attendees sipped on gin based cocktails during an introduction to the fascinating history of gin and tonic. Guests then tried neat samples of a craft gin before taking part in a tutored tasting with a variety of flavoured tonics, designed to highlight different properties of the spirit. To end the evening, attendees were presented with their own gin, tonic, glassware and garnish selection to use their new knowledge and skills to create their own perfect G&T.

The Sleepover 2 (21st May 2016)

After a super successful January launch of London’s first ever hotel sleepover event, The Sleepover is back…!

St Pancras Renaissance Hotel is delighted to once again be working with Boom Shakalaka & Gaggle Productions, to host this ‘drinking and thinking’ event for women.

The Sleepover 2 will provide the perfect opportunity for women to have fun and share ideas over the course of an entire evening, with a bespoke, curated night of entertainment. 45 women will be able to take part in this incredible event which includes food, booze, excellent company, accommodation, entertainment and some surprises thrown in.

Entertainment will include an astrological talk by Astrologer Shelley Von Strunckel, pyjama monogramming with Silver Clock Threads, truth or dare led by comedienne Mae Martin, yoga and massage lesson, a late night boogie and plenty of other surprises thrown in!

Cured Meat and Craft Beer Masterclass (April 2016)

Throughout April, MI + ME played host to Cured Meat & Craft Beer Pairing masterclasses led by Cannon & Cannon and Oldershaw Brewery.

During the 1.5 hour session, participants were introduced to a range of cured British meats by an expert tutor from Cannon & Cannon Meat School. In addition to explaining the provenance of the meats, the tutor also talked through their specific characteristics and how to pair them with beer to get the best effect. This knowledge was then put into practice, pairing them with Oldershaw Brewery’s selection of craft beers.

Life Drawing and Fashion Illustration Masterclass (March 2016)

Throughout March, MI + ME played host to weekly Life Drawing and Fashion Illustration classes. These were led by couturier Ms Tammam from local fashion house, Atelier Tammam. The Creative Director and Head Designer of this local bespoke fashion studio, introduced basic drawing skills and offered practical tips during the two structured activities.

After a 45 minute Life Drawing session with a model, a 15 minute break provided the perfect opportunity for guests to chat with fellow masterclassers over wine and nibbles before the next 45 minute session. During the Fashion Illustration class attendees a dressed mannequin was set up to ensure attendees developed drawing skills in both form and detail.
